Essay Upload
WELCOME to the 2009 Holocaust Remembrance Project essay upload site. High
school students who are interested in participating in the 2009 Holocaust
Remembrance Project essay contest should use this site to register and upload
their essay to this year's competition.
Please do not register and upload your essay until you have fully
completed writing your essay and will not be making any further
revisions. You will use this site to register and upload your essay all
in one session and will not be allowed to register today and return to the site
at a future date to upload or edit your essay.
Points to Consider Before Uploading Your Essay
-
Have you read all of the
contest rules
and considered this year's writing
prompt prior to submitting your essay?
-
Your essay must be double-spaced.
-
You should NOT use headers, footers, footnotes or endnotes in the body of your essay. They
will not copy over when you upload the text. Use parenthetical references
within the body of your essay for citations and then include your bibliography,
works cited, or reference page as the last page of your essay. We recommend
using either the MLA or APA writing style.
-
Your essay must include either a Works Cited, Bibliography, or Reference
Page. If it does not, your essay will be disqualified.
-
The total number of words used in your essay must not exceed 1,200 words. Words
contained in your accompanying Works Cited, Bibliography, or
Reference Page will not be included in the 1,200 word limit. Most word processing
programs contain a "word count" function that will count the number of words in
your document for you.
-
Do not include your name or any page numbering on any page of your essay. Some
writing styles require you to put your name and page number on the top or
bottom of each page. DO NOT do that with this essay.
-
Plagiarism will not be tolerated. By submitting an essay to the Holocaust
Remembrance Project, you are certifying that you are the sole author of the
essay and that in writing your essay you have not plagiarized or otherwise
infringed upon the rights of any third parties. Essays will be checked for
plagiarism and any essay found to contain plagiarism will be disqualified.
-
Your essay must not be a poem. However, you may include excerpts from poems in
your essay as it may lend to the content of your essay.
-
Your essay must not be fiction.
-
Once you have completed the process of registration and uploading your essay to
our site, you will not be able to return to the site to make any further edits
to your essay. You will receive confirmation that your essay was uploaded
successfully and (if you provide a valid e-mail address) you will receive an
acknowledgment of your submission via e-mail.
-
This registration process has four steps.
